Despite finishing in second place with a 14-1-1 record behind the undefeated Merrigum, the Wombats still had to work hard to get to the grand final.
Now, the team is just one game away from claiming a premiership.
"It's pretty exciting just to be in the grand final," Wombats co-coach Claire Grills said.
"We've had an excellent season so far, the team has performed incredibly well in all their matches this season, we've been really proud of what they have been able to achieve so far and we are hoping to see them continue that into the grand final."
For Grills, it is the commitment to their success that has driven the team to the final weekend of the season.
"What has impressed me most about our side is that everyone wants to be a part of it," she said.
"We haven't had a player miss a single training session this year unless they've been away from town, they're all dedicated to improving as individual players and to getting their team work and game plan to the best it can possibly be.
"They're an excellent group of girls, they're all close friends and that has helped them to further develop as players."
When asked for a standout player, Grills said it was hard to single out any one player.
"That's been a key to them having the season they have had," she said.
"When we are on the court, there is no one who has to take control or be the leader of the side, everyone contributes. You need to get a performance out of every player on the court in order to get the win.
"Our defensive end has been fantastic, it's been one of our bigger strengths on the court for us this year, we've been able to keep the scores down and have let our mid court and shooters play with freedom as a result."
Though the task of the undefeated Merrigum is a big challenge, it is a challenge the Wombats are more than ready to take on.
