The 35-year-old was announced as one of 25 elite bull riding champions who will take part in the event at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong on November 30.
A big name on the redo scene, Atkins was a NFR Finalist in both 2007 and 2008 and is the oldest competitor of the group included in the Rodeo 4 Life event.
The event is being run in order to raise funds for the RPA Transplant Institute, helping to save lives through funding organ transplant research.
The riders will be competing for a $30,000 grand prize and championship title.
Atkins said he was excited to be a part of the event.
“It will be massive and the competition as tough as it gets,” he said.
“We’ll all be riding our hearts out for this important cause and hoping to bring home the grand prize in Australia’s richest bull riding rodeo arena spectacular.”
Event producer Doug Vickers said they were excited to have Atkins on board the event.
“We’re thrilled to have Ben among our champion line-up in this spectacular event to help save lives,” he said.
“The audience should be prepared for an edge of their seat experience when Rodeo 4 Life rocks Wollongong with a thrilling, action-packed night of electrifying live rodeo and country music entertainment.”
As well as the bull riding, the event will feature a concert from CMC male artist of the year Travis Collins.
Collins said he was honoured to be a part of the event.
“It’s an incredible honour to perform at the event,” he said.
“While music, song writing, recording and performing is my life, there is something very special about being part of something bigger that has the power to save the lives of many.”
