Kyabram has a chance to climb

by Gus UnderwoodKYABRAM will get the chance to improve its current fifth position on Cricket Shepparton’s Haisman Shield ladder when it hosts Tatura in a round six two-day game starting this Saturday.Kyabram is coming off the bye and three out of four wins for the season while Tatura is looking for its first win.Kyabram skipper Kyle Mueller and Paul Parsons found form in the last game with the bat while Paul Newman is always a potential match-winner with the bat.But they will be looking for support to continue the team’s promising start to the season.Kyabram’s B grade side played a pulsating tie with Undera last Saturday at Undera.Reverting to a one-day game after a washout on the first day, Kyabram posted a handy 9/182, with Connor Hawes posting a half century and opener Nathan Pell (22), Billy McLay (37) and Damian Parsons (20 not out) chipping in with handy contributions. But after slipping to 3/19 in reply Undera gradually fought their way back into the game, equalling Kyabram’s score in the final over.In D grade, Karramomus posted 5/230, which couldn’t be matched by Kyabram despite a fine innings from veteran Ross Brown.Brown made 72 with eight fours and two sixes but the only support he got was from Mackenzie Ryan and Chris Usher, both with 24.Brown also did best with the ball for Kyabram, taking 3/49 off seven overs.
