By James Arbuthnott

KYABRAM'S little athletes travelled to the Northern Country Region Relay Carnival recently and brought home a number of medals.

For many it was their first relay competition and some are now eligible for state championships, while all involved were exposed to higher-level competition larger centres from the region provide.

Under 10 boys Byron Chapman, Sebastian Cleary, Max Stockdale and Jacob Duke came up against some strong competition in all three of their events but managed to come 7th in the Medley and 8th in the 4x100m and 4x200m events.

Under 11 girls Sierra Duke, Jenna Quattrocchi, Mia Stockdale and Matilda Buntine showed they had what it takes against the big centres by taking out 2nd in the 4x100 and 3rd in the Medley.

Under 11 boys Archer Woods, Keplar Cleveland, Mitch Wilson and Bailey Harrip also performed well, finishing 4th in their 4x100m heat and 6th in the final, and 8th in the Medley.

Ky's two Under 11 mixed teams competed in the 4x100m event, Team 1 consisting of Jenna, Keplar, Mia and Archer and Team 2 Sierra, Mitch, Matilda and Bailey. It was a tight straight final, with Team 2 taking out 3rd place and Team 1 finishing in 5th.
