The club have just wrapped up the Autumn Pairs event, which is conducted on a round robin basis, in time for the Snooker Cup, which is another pairs event but is contested via a knockout format. Ever consistent Tony Cincotta and one of the most improved players in Michael Barclay will take on Debbie Harbrow and Nev Page in the final on Monday, June 27 to decide this year’s winners.
Deb has been in great touch this year whilst Nev’s form has been like moving through the exposed tree stumps in Lake Mulwala- susceptible to disaster at any time.
Best of luck to both pairs in what will be an even contest.
Darren Thompson collected the choccies on Monday, June 13 when he rolled Dan Young on the black ball to take out the June round of the Digger’s Tribute.
Dan and Darren had to win a couple of matches to get to the final in an evening where the standard of play was excellent.
Monday and Tuesday June 20 and 21 saw qualifying rounds of the Snooker Cup whilst Wednesday June 15 and 22 resulted in huge fields contesting the social events.
Michael Barclay and Tony Cincotta had a perfect training run for the Snooker Cup when they played out the final on June 15, with Michael emerging victorious.
Adrien Ridley put on a clinic on June 22 when he completed a 106-point break to defeat Ric Conomy in that evening’s finale.
Adrien also had to pull out three late snookers to get over David Mark in the semi-final and examination of his handicap will now be even more contentious than a score review in the AFL.
