He was a winner in Thursday men’s pairs with Gerry Devlin, while runners-up were Ron Bentley and John Stewart. The jackpot went off to Ivan Hicks and Alby Clarke.
Bentley was also a winner on Saturday with Warren Caruana and Mark Sellwood. Kevin Bursill and Doug Goldsworthy were runners-up.
Monday social saw a win to Max Bennett and the two Kevins — Scolyer and Bursill. Jim Ferrier, Noel McMaster and Doug Goldsworthy placed second.
Members are reminded to put their names on the appropriate pennant list as the bowls committee needs that information.
There will be a lunch at the Caledonian on Wednesday, June 29 at noon. Names on the list or phone Di Payne on 0400 173 725.
Please support this — catch up with your mates, have a hearty winter meal and support a good sponsor.

Wednesday, June 15:
In men’s three-bowl pairs, with a field of 18 players to give everybody a game, the match committee changed the game to triples.
The entries were good considering the weather forecast for rain all day, but players escaped the rain and played all games.
Winners were Ivan Hicks, Greg Clymo and Peter Jackson on 53 points, with runners-up Hugh Davies, Ron Bentley, and Frank Rob on 51 points.
As there were insufficient players (20 required) the jackpot was not played for and remains at $80.
Saturday, June 18:
The open social bowls two-bowl pairs had a good field again on what was to be a beautiful sunny day with little breeze.
Winners were John Stuart and Adrian Costello with two wins and +8 over Leon Sharp and Bev Trengrove on two wins and +6.
After the game a discussion was held with the players present, and it was decided that Saturday social will take a break over the coming winter weeks and restart back in August.
Wednesday, June 22 will be nominated teams for the men’s three-bowl pairs.
Remember you can book via the bowls office phone on 5481 3390, leave a message for your entry. Good bowling for the rest of the week.

June 18 and 19:
This is Mathoura’s second winter tournament and we had 96 bowlers playing at the club.
We play three games on the Saturday and at the end of play for the day we had 3x3 game winners, with two of the three game winners playing each other on Sunday.
This left us with two teams winning the five games, with a play off over five ends to decide the winner and runner-up.
The winning team was from Diamond Creek; Steve Moore (lead), Jamie Burrell (2nd), Peter Mehmet (3rd), and skip Rohan Hose.
Runners-up from Ocean Grove were Rob Edwards (lead) Allan Callow (2nd), Jeff Howarth (3rd), and skip John Fry.
In third place was P. Cameron (lead), J. Cooper (2nd), R. Buckley (3rd), and skip J. Dixon.
There were four teams with four wins: Richard Buckley (118), Kelvin Walsh (117), Lindsay Vallance (116), Russell Kelly (109) — congratulations to all the winners.
Best winning margin on the last two games were won by A. Hill from Finley and G. Glayton from Warracknabeal.
Thank you to all the staff at the club for looking after us — team work paid off again.
Thanks to our green keeper Peter Wilson for the good greens we played on and to “Rocket” for running the weekend so well.
