Balloon release at a previous Purple Weekend.

OUR town knows how to put on a show – and it will prove it again this weekend.

Tourists will flock to Kyabram for three major events on one of the town’s biggest occasions. The Gift’s Purple Weekend, the Vintage Engine and Machinery Rally and White Truck Muster are expected to see people flood Kyabram from Friday.

The massive weekend will kick off with The Gift Purple Weekend as shop owners and school children don their finest purple attire to raise money for the cancer support charity.

The Gift founder Liz Dillon said plans for the annual event all pointed to a huge occasion.

“The most important part of the day will of course be the fundraising, with all the proceeds from the Purple Weekend set to go towards The Gift,” Liz said.

“The Gift helps local people with cancer and that’s why it is incredibly important,” she said.

“The money we raise stays intown to support people in Kyabram and district."

“It offers help and support to people who are going through the toughest times of their lives.”

Liz said Purple Weekend will shower the town in purple delight as shopkeepers and schools get set to do their part for charity.

“We invite every one involved in anyway they can to raise as much as they can,” she said.

“Kyabram’s shopping precinct will be encouraged to take part in its own sales and promotions and to deck their stores out in purple and dress up in purple."

“The sky is the limit – you may come up with your own idea and we would love to hear about it.”

The Gift would love to see photos of Kyabram’s purple haze, so send your photos to [email protected]

Not to be outdone, motor heads will get their fair share of all things mechanical with the Vintage Engine and Machinery Rally and the Australian White Truck

Muster at the Kyabram Showgrounds starting Saturday.

The popular joint event will see an array of little known and not often seen machinery and will give truck enthusiasts the chance to learn more and talk openly about the historic White Truck brand.
