The collective “awwww” coming from the town hall is a result of Lynne’s latest exhibition, Reigning Cats and Dogs.
The inspiration for the collection came during a tough period in Lynne’s life.
“A few years ago my husband died and as a result I stopped painting,” Lynne said.
“After that I was asked to do an exhibition and it was a challenge to figure out what to do.
“So I started drawing my little dog, which features in two or three pieces in the exhibition, and it just grew from there.”
Lynne is usually a contemporary artist, focusing more on bigger pieces.
“For this exhibition I worked mainly on miniatures, which is the first time I have done an exhibition of them,” she said.
“An example of some of the different pieces I have done are the footy cats, which are small cats made from wood dressed in footy colours. They have smiling and frowning faces on each side to reflect how your team is doing.
“I enjoyed it quite a bit and it has given me a lot of my confidence back. It was nice to go back to basics and do something different.”
Reigning Cats and Dogs opened on December 4 and will run until February 2. The Town Hall is open 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday.
