MUM was the word across Ky last Friday with both Kyabram P-12 College and St Augustine’s students celebrating the important women in their lives.

At St Augustine’s, mums were treated to breakfast and coffee with their kids, while at the P-12 College kids went shopping at the annual Mother’s Day stall to nab some great gifts.
St Augustine’s deputy principal Carolyn Goode said the breakfast was a great initiative of the school’s family core group.
‘‘It’s a group of parents who meet a couple of times a term and help us understand what issues our families are concerned about. It’s crucial for parents to be active participants in their children’s education, and having lots of parents here with us this morning is a great way to have that family involvement,’’ she said.
Mother’s Day celebrations coincided with Purple Day. Students came to school decked out in purple in support of The Kyabram Gift, a not-for-profit fund that raises funds for locals suffering from cancer.
It’s a beloved Kyabram tradition and one that students did not hold back for, sporting spray-painted purple hair, outlandish purple outfits and even purple facepaint.
