For 32 locals, Kyabram Blue Light volunteers delivered just that, chartering a bus down to Melbourne to watch Hawthorn battle it out against the Demons.
The cohort from Ky had a much better time than Hawks fans (who saw their team lose by five points), with some lucky enough to nab signed hats and towels from the players.
Some youngsters also managed to get photos with players, mascots and umpires, with one umpire even passing around the game day ball.
Constable Mitchell Bull said they were able to get right in on the action.
“We had runners and trainers for the Hawthorn football club positioned in front of us on the ground who were happy to answer any and all questions put to them.
“They even provided some drinks, and entertained us all the way through,” he said.
And though it rained, that proved to be no barrier to fun, with one parent saying their child didn’t even mention how wet they all got sitting in the front row.
Constable Bull said with the success of this trip, the committee will be keeping an eye out for similar opportunities for local kids.
“A massive thanks to Clark’s bus lines, Kyabram and District Bank community branch and Kyabram MEOFF for their generous support in making this event possible,” he said.
