The Blues, guided by their youth brigade, claimed a six-goal victory against Congupna on Saturday to move within two points of a top eight spot in the Murray Netball League.
The win — their sixth of the season — highlighted their continued development despite essentially rebuilding the side this season.
Caddison Mulholland – coaching from a distance due to illness – said the continued growth of her young side was blowing her away.
“I had someone sending me the match on the phone as I wasn’t able to attend,” she said.
“I’m glad I got to watch it in some way because our girls were fantastic in the way they played. Everyone put on a really good performance, but it was the younger girls who most impressed me.
“They all added something really good to our team, they’re all performing really well and adapting to the way we want to play as a side, it’s fantastic to watch.”
Mulholland was impressed by the response of her team when challenged.
“We were down at the quarter-time break,” she said.
“It’s a position we didn’t want to be in, and as a side we wanted to have a really strong response and we were able to do so, which I was really proud of us for.
“The fightback to get into a position where we could win the game was something I am really proud of, seeing the direction we are going as a netball side is something I am really excited about.”
The Blues take on Barooga next week.
