Being a Hollywood star, Bell is often called away from home to promote her projects, such as the third season of her hit Netflix series Nobody Wants This.
But when it comes to having to leaving her husband in charge of daughters Lincoln, 13, and 11-year-old Delta, she can guarantee they'll be surviving on junk food.
"I usually receive, almost immediately, notifications on my phone - 'Your McDonald's has been delivered', 'Your Taco Bell has been delivered', she told Jimmy Fallon on his late night talk show.
"It's all - they just eat fast food."
Despite their diet, Bell knows that Shepard is more than capable of solo parenting when she's out at work.
"I've been in and out of town for the past like six weeks because of this press tour, which is always like, as a mom, you get nervous to leave town, but then you realise they're fine," she said.
"I'm not getting any calls from the school that they're absent. I get home, no one has stitches."
She can also rely on the fact that she will get messages from Lincoln keeping her updated on her dad's antics when she's away from home.
"Here's what he didn't consider: I have a mole on the ground, obviously. So, I was getting, like, in-house paparazzi photos from my oldest daughter going like, 'It is 10pm, we're supposed to be in bed, but Dad is in the cereal cupboard, and he's just like going hog wild'.
Shepard previously opened up about being a dad, saying "nothing compares" to parenthood.
"It is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me," he said.
"When I have failures in life, I get to come home and still be dad. It is the most transformative experience. You can feel it's why you are here."
