Production on the small screen reboot of the video game franchise has been "paused" after Turner - who plays Lara Croft - suffered an unspecified injury and she will be taking time off to recover.
A statement from Amazon MGM Studios released to Deadline.com explained: "Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury. As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible."
The Sun reported Turner aggravated a previous back injury which she discovered during training for the series.
"It's been chaos on set and now the whole show is in jeopardy", a source told the newspaper.
"Sophie has been throwing herself into the role, but the Âgruelling physicality of being Lara Croft has meant she has pushed her body too far.
"Many on set fear Sophie may have to be replaced altogether now, as she may not bounce back in time."
Turner recently opened up about her back issues explaining she discovered a problem while trying to get into shape for the physically demanding role of Lara Croft.
Speaking on The Julia Cunningham Show, she explained: "I've learned I have a perpetual back problem, but I also realised that it's much easier to kind of build muscle if you've ever worked out before in your life, which I never had, so it has taken me months and months and months to get into good shape."
