The Irish rock band, fronted by Bono alongside The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr, will begin their Carnaval de Luz Presents: The Greatest Show on Earth World Tour in Mexico City on February 23.
The tour will support their forthcoming 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz with further concerts expected to be announced across Europe, North America and Ireland.
Announcing the tour, the band said: "'The Greatest Show on Earth'? Now that's a throwdown.
"It's a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody's life.
"A bit of showman, a bit of shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums, and tunes you can hold onto. Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are."
The tour takes its name from the band's latest single, The Greatest Show on Earth, the third song from Carnaval de Luz.
The new record is U2's first collection of original material since Songs of Experience in 2017 and will be released on November 13.
Next year's world tour will initially comprise six concerts in three countries, with two performances each in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
U2 will open at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City before travelling to Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires in March.
The Irish rockers have indicated additional dates will be announced although venues and dates have not yet been confirmed.
U2 have sold more than 170 million records worldwide, with a career spanning nearly five decades and albums including The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, War and Unforgettable Fire.
The group have won 22 Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
