The local share market has finished at its best level in five and a half months, thanks in part to a strong performance by the energy sector as well as gains by the major miners.Â

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Tuesday closed up 42 points to 7181.3, a rise of 0.59 per cent. The broader All Ordinaries was up 41.3 points to 7376.4, a 0.56 per cent rise.
The Australian dollar was buying 66.18 US cents, from 66.50 US cents at Monday's ASX close.
