Bryan shot a two-under 70 on Saturday to get to 17 under 199 in the Corales Puntacana Championship at wind-swept Puntacana Resort and he leads from fellow American Kevin Tway (66).
Having led since he opened the tournament with a 63, he has a chance to become only the second player to go wire-to-wire on the PGA Tour this year. It just didn't feel that way.
Bryan tied the 54-hole tournament record.
Canada's Taylor Pendrith (65) and American Justin Lower (71) were tied third.
Australia's Harrison Endycott shot a 71 and was tied 35th, 10 shots behind Bryan.
The winner gets into the PGA Championship, but not the Masters because this event is held opposite a signature event (the RBC Heritage).
But he also would get in the other three $US20 million signature events for the rest of the season, so plenty is at stake for everyone.
"Excited to just get the nerves flowing a little bit tomorrow and have a chance to win a golf tournament," Bryan said. "Got a good opportunity for that tomorrow."
