The F3 derby was scheduled to kick off at 5pm (AEDT) at Gosford's Polytec Stadium on Saturday.
But temperatures on the NSW Central Coast reached as high as 40 degrees, forcing the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) to call off the match under its heat policy.
The APL will now stage the game at 7pm AEDT on Sunday, at the same venue.
Saturday's men's clash between the Mariners and Sydney FC at 7.35pm will go ahead at the stadium, with temperatures expected to drop to 31 degrees.
The women's derby was the only A-Leagues match called off due to Saturday's sapping heat.
The men's match between Newcastle and Melbourne City at McDonald Jones Stadium - 86km north of Gosford - kicked off at 5pm as scheduled.
Emergency warnings were issued for residents near fires on the Central Coast and in the Hunter region on Saturday, with at least 12 homes believed to be destroyed by a bushfire at Koolewong.
Sydney FC warned travelling fans about the bushfires, with trains not running between Hawkesbury River and Gosford.
This season's 'summer period' for the men's and women's competitions was extended by a month from early December (round 6) through to mid-March (round 20).
Under the APL's heat policy, the earliest kick-off is 5pm local time - with the exception of a few matches due to time zones and broadcast commitments.
The 'summer period' is slightly shorter in Newcastle and Victoria, running round 7 to 18.
There is no 'summer period' factored into home fixtures for Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC given the cooler climate of New Zealand.
Last year's champions Central Coast (1-0-3) were looking to reboot their ALW season off the back of three-straight defeats, while fourth-placed Newcastle (2-1-0) remain undefeated.
