Following a brutal collision with teammate Gary Rohan, key forward Cameron will miss a second successive game when Geelong host North Melbourne at GHBA Stadium on Sunday.
The Cats are expected to brush aside the Kangaroos, who have lost 13 straight games, but face a bigger test against finals contenders Essendon next week.
Geelong coach Chris Scott said Cameron still has boxes to tick with club medical staff before being cleared to return against the Bombers.
"He's done quite a bit of training this week, so in terms of the physical preparation that we need from a football perspective, he's in good shape," Scott told reporters on Saturday.
"We're told he's likely (to play against Essendon) but there's always the caveat that if there's a setback things can change."
Jake Kolodjashnij (adductor) is expected to be available to face Essendon, as is veteran wingman Isaac Smith, who has been managed this week.
But Jed Bews is set to miss at least two matches with a knee injury that has hampered him in recent weeks.
"This is one where there is a bit more of a regimented plan that's going to take at least a couple of weeks," Scott said.
"He's likely to miss the next two (matches) to get that completely right.
"There was just no point from his perspective and from ours that he keep plugging away without being able to do what he can do when he's at his best."
Star midfielder Cam Guthrie (toe) remains a "medium-term" prospect, having been sidelined since round six.
