They also hope that captain Alex Pearce will avoid surgery on his Achilles injury.
One of the main talking points out of Saturday's all-time classic grand final was the decision to activate Wharfie Time in the last quarter.
Patrick Voss had just kicked his third goal to put Fremantle 17 points up at 22 minutes and it looked certain that their premiership drought was over.
But it had emerged pre-game that Lions coach Chris Fagan also hatched a plan with his players - if Wharfie Time was sounded, they would use it as their signal to counter-punch.
Will Ashcroft certainly reacted to Wharfie Time, going on a clearance rampage that was pivotal in Brisbane kicking the last four goals of the game and pulling off their three-peat.
It is understood, but not confirmed, that Dockers chief executive Simon Garlick has the sole authority for approving when Wharfie Time is sounded.
Dockers coach Justin Longmuir defended Wharfie Time post-match, comparing it to Brisbane playing Country Road whenever Charlie Cameron kicks a goal.
Before the shattered Dockers returned to Perth on Sunday morning, their football manager Joe Brierty was asked if they would keep using Wharfie Time.
"I'm sure we will - it's a fan activation for our club," he said at Melbourne Airport.
"Obviously, Brisbane have their songs, there's a lot of theatre behind it.
"But whatever is talked about, it doesn't impact the result of the game."
Brierty was not asked who made the call to use Wharfie Time, but he doubled down on the club's support for the fan-rallying activation.
"Our fans love it and the football community, the theatre behind it, they love it too," Brierty said.
"A quality side in Brisbane took their moments and that's why they've just done a three-peat.
"That's what we want to get to."
Fagan, Ashcroft and several other players post-match said Wharfie Time was their call to arms when it looked like the game was lost.
"When the Wharfie Time hit and they went up by that much, I found a bit of freedom in myself," Ashcroft told AAP.
"Like 'there's not much to lose now, let's just go for it and try and win the game'.
"So that's what I was thinking, I just wanted to go for it and lucky it paid off."
Also, Brierty said the Dockers hope scans will show that Pearce did not suffer a full Achilles rupture.
His injury early in the third term ultimately hurt Fremantle, who missed his composure in defence when Brisbane came charging at the end.
"He's obviously pretty sore. We expect he has a partial tear of his Achilles," Brierty said.
"If it's a partial tear, he probably doesn't need surgery, but you never know with these things once you get them scanned - it could be worse."
Brierty said Pearce faced "significant stint" out of the game if he needed an operation on the tendon.
He added the mood in the team was sombre, but also pride, after coming so close.
"Ultimately, this game doesn't give up its rewards easily and we fell short - that hurts," he said.
"We'll obviously take our time to reflect on that and get better."
He added when the time was right, they "definitely" would look at what went wrong at the end of the final quarter.
"If you said to me at the start of the year that we'd be in that position in the grand final, (I'd) be taking it every day of the week," he said.
"We just didn't take our moments late in the game.
"We want to be contending for a long period of time. But that's going to sting for a while."
