In pursuit of a maiden AFL premiership, the Dockers will spend a third straight week on top of the ladder after Saturday's club-record 124-point drubbing of North Melbourne in Bunbury.
The comprehensive 24.11 (155) to 4.7 (31) victory extended their club-record winning streak to a dozen games ahead of their mid-season bye.
Fremantle, who entered the AFL in 1995, have only once reached the grand final - when they lost to Hawthorn in 2013.
But they have never been in a better position at this point of a season and are riding a wave of momentum into the second half of the campaign.
"Our fans have every right to be excited," Longmuir said.
"We haven't had a lot of success as a football club, so I'm excited that our fans are enjoying our footy and they've got every right to get ahead of themselves and lose track of where we are in the season.
"But we haven't got any right to do that internally.
"Our job is to make sure that we prepare for the opposition's best and we're aware of every challenge that's going to be thrown our way in games, and we're doing that really well."
Longmuir welcomed the mid-season bye as a chance for players and staff to freshen up, but reiterated he won't let anyone sit back to smell the roses.
"We haven't really achieved anything yet, but we definitely need to recover and take a deep breath," he said.
"That's staff as well because we've travelled a lot over the first part of the season and put a lot of effort into it.
"There's an opportunity now to recover over this period of time and come back and start getting ready for Geelong."
Longmuir expects vice-captain Caleb Serong (calf), key defender Brennan Cox (knee) and midfielder Matthew Johnson (hamstring) to return after the bye.
Fremantle host fellow premiership contenders Geelong at Optus Stadium on June 18.
