Merry Christmas: The Christmas-themed tree was created by Maureen Sheers.
Kyabram’s CBD exploded with colour this weekend when the community joined together to create a town-wide yarn bomb.

Covering poles and trees along the main street of town, the yarn bombing was brought together by a range of individuals and groups, who crocheted and knitted to their heart’s content.
Co-ordinator Trish Worsfold said it was amazing to see the number of volunteers during a year of lockdowns and uncertainty.
Smiles: Sandra Norster with Barbara Carver helping decorate.
“Individuals, small and large groups all worked together, demonstrating the team and community spirit for which Kyabram is well known,” Ms Worsfold said.
“The volunteers were represented by a number of generations, with seven-year-olds to 94-year-olds working on their projects for a good part of the year.
“It really has come together brilliantly.”
Christmas spirit: Addison and Eliza Howard admiring the yarn bombing.
Along the main street, some poles and trees were decorated to represent the businesses of the shops they front.
The whirl of colours can also be found along Union St, Lake Rd, at the police station and around the hospital grounds.
Trish Worsfold said the project couldn’t have been completed without the help and camaraderie of the community volunteers.
Teamwork: Gwen Ward and Shane Walley working hard.
Last year the initiative included 78 participants.
“Last year it was to help those who were housebound during COVID,” Ms Worsfold said.
“That was the idea; we thought it was a project of people working together and not feeling distanced from family friends, working together toward something for the town.”
Family work: Dorothy and Meredith Warren were part of the four generations that created the decorations on this tree.
Other decorated items will appear in local businesses over the next week. For any businesses interested in joining the festive spirit for next year, contact Trish Worsfold on 0407 291 044.
