Grade 5 and 6 students from last year, were on hand to unveil the mural, which was painted in conjunction with artist and former Kyabram resident Kylie Biltris.
The mural was revealed to the entire primary school, with Ms Bilitris and the students having worked on the project for the majority of 2021 — COVID-19 disruptions pushing back the completion date.
Ms Biltris came to the school with a project arranged by Victorian Regional Arts.
She ran a workshop with students where she asked them to brainstorm ideas for the mural that best represented Kyabram.
With submissions from interested students, Ms Biltris turned their ideas into a vision that could be put on the wall. She enlarged the students’ drawings and sketched them on the wall. The students then joined in the painting process of the final picture.
Ms Biltris has also contributed to costumes and sets for the P-2 school concert.
The big reveal: Kyabram’s P-12 primary students gather to see the mural.
