Seventy years later, a celebration was held at Harmony Village in Shepparton with friends and family to commemorate the Mantons’ platinum anniversary.
Numerous bouquets and cards were squeezed on to a table, pieces of cake were passed around and stories of their past flowed as Wes and Ethel sat side by side, their hands intertwined.
Amid all the chatter, one might have missed that each time their eyes locked, they sparked.
