The youth takeovers, funded by the Victorian Government, will provide a safe space for youth in the region and encourage connection and relationship-building among young people.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said it was a great initiative that would provide more for youth to do in the region.
“This program is about bringing young people together to hang out with one another and do their own thing in a safe space,’’ he said.
“The Wednesday night dedicated youth spaces will be held in the Kyabram and Echuca libraries on alternating weeks.
“The takeovers will provide a range of activities, including creative arts, digital entertainment, a place to relax with friends, complimentary refreshments and a safe space for youth to be themselves.
“It’s a great alternative to sport or other extracurricular activities for youth and gives them the opportunity to spend some time together.”
The sessions will be supervised and vapes, smoking, alcohol and drugs will not be tolerated.
This event is funded through FReeZA 2022-24 and Emergency Recovery Victoria’s Recovery Hubs Program.
The takeover happens at Kyabram library on March 27, from 5pm to 7pm.
Future events will be held on: April 10 and 24; May 8 and 22; June 5 and 19; July 3, 17 and 31; August 14 and 28; September 11 and 25; October 9 and 23; November 6 and 20; and December 4.
