Sun shines on sidewalk sale

By lunchtime on Friday, Laura Campanelli had already sold a couple of hundred arancinis, highlighting just how busy Allan St was for day one of the two-day Sidewalk Sale.

Arancinis are small rice balls filled with either bolognese sauce or mozzarella. They are coated in breadcrumbs and fried.

“One lady picked up six first thing this morning and then came back for another dozen at lunch time,” Laura, from Kyabram Pizza and Pasta, said.

“I think some people are having them for breakfast and lunch.”

The homemade delicacy isn’t usually available that early in the day, as the business normally opens at 4pm.

“It is more ice cream weather, but the arancinis are very popular,” Laura said.

Gelati and the fried treats were the go-to items for passers by who were enjoying the special sale event for Kyabram’s central business district traders.

Rohan Aldous caught up with some of the participants as they were going about their business on the day usually known as Bush Market Day.
