India ready for 'street-smart' England in World Cup

But England have won 16 of their last 18 completed T20s, with five victories in a row, and India bowling coach Morne Morkel feels their opponents are savvier with Harry Brook now in charge. 

"They're a team that's street-smart, there's a lot of quality in their side," Morkel said. "Batting quite long and deep makes them really dangerous. They've got wicket-taking options with the ball. 

"The way they approach a T20 game is fearless, trying to take the game on makes them a dangerous side. 

"I feel like it's going to be a good shootout between two aggressive teams and whichever side can hold their nerve and read the conditions will come out on top." 

Michael Vaughan said earlier this week that England's ace up their sleeve was the spin trio of Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson and Will Jacks, insisting they're better than India's options. 

But while Varun Chakravarthy has struggled in this tournament, the mystery spinner took 14 wickets in five matches last year against England, who have frequently struggled against the slow bowlers in India. 

India will weigh up whether to include left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav either as a direct replacement for Varun or at the expense of left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh or all-rounder Shivam Dube. 

"With Varun at times, to his credit, he wants to be a big performer for the team, so he'll put a little bit of pressure on himself," Morkel said. "But he's a match-winner for us." 

India are favourites to retain their title but, ahead of a third successive T20 World Cup semi-final showdown against England, their Achilles heel has been in the field, dropping 13 chances. 

"At times we're guilty of giving away maybe 15, 20 runs in the field," Morkel added. "Nobody looks to drop a catch on purpose. It's not like we don't train it. 

"That's one one aspect that we keep working hard on and asking the guys to really step up on."
