The week-long event will focus on recognising and embracing the rich cultural diversity within the school community.
Throughout the week, students will engage in a range of classroom activities designed to highlight the many backgrounds and traditions represented at the school.
From storytelling and music to art and food, the activities will aim to promote inclusivity, respect, and the importance of every child feeling safe, valued and welcome.
The highlight of the week will be the school’s open day on Friday, May 16, which will lead us into Education Week.
Families and community members are invited to attend and experience the inclusive spirit of Shepparton East first-hand.
Students are encouraged to wear cultural dress on the day, showcasing traditional clothing that reflects their heritage.
Multi-age classroom activities will take place across the school, fostering connection and understanding between year levels while celebrating global cultures.
The open day promises to be a joyful celebration, with parents invited to explore student work and join in cultural experiences.
“Education Week is a special time to reflect on what makes our school community strong – and that’s our diversity,” principal Les Walsh said.
“Our students learn from each other every day, and this week gives us a chance to honour that in a really meaningful way.”
The school warmly welcomes families and community members to join the festivities and share in the spirit of unity through diversity.
No doubt Shepparton East Primary School Year 1 student Zahra Ross and Year 2 student Charli Warburton will enjoy the storytelling aspect of Education Week.
