The Goulburn Valley League sprung to life in the second quarter of the interleague clash against Ovens and Murray after conceding six opening-term goals, keeping its rival goalless in an extraordinary fightback.
But what sparked the fateful comeback?
Initially, it was the clearances. Gaining the ascendancy in the ruck allowed a 14-8 clearance count as opposed to 9-13 in the first term.
In the third quarter, the GV snatched the lead on the back of an improved disposal count (98-77) and was allowed to collect its fair share of uncontested footy, with the uncontested marks favouring the GV 25-11.
O&M ramped up the pressure with a five-goal final term to claim a famous seven-point win, but it was nonetheless an impressive showing from a GV side which had trained together just twice.
