So, it’s no wonder the dream that quietly sat in the back of her mind to own her own boutique for years has finally become a reality, with her opening Morgan May in Tatura in January.
“Leaving the security of an office job to step out on my own and start a small business was incredibly scary, but it also felt right,” Morgan said.
“It was one of those moments where I knew I had to take the leap and back myself.
“My partner Andrew, who is incredibly relaxed and supportive, encouraged me to do exactly that and follow what I truly love.”
Morgan May has become the final store in the major IGA development, and with the incredible support of developer Alan Fisher and builder Corey Meka, Morgan’s vision came together to create something truly special for the Tatura community.
There were many people who played a huge role in bringing Morgan May to life, from Morgan’s family and close friends who encouraged her every step of the way, to two very special friends who helped her set up the store and bring the space together.
“Amazing local trades worked on the build, and Emily Jane Interior Design created incredibly detailed, lifelike 3D renders of the store so everyone involved at each stage could clearly see what we were working towards,” she said.
“We wanted to ensure the character and beauty of the building’s exterior was honoured just as thoughtfully on the inside.”
With a focus on elevated everyday essentials, unique brands that feel a little bit different, and clothing for special occasions, Morgan loves sourcing labels that many people may not have seen before, while offering a range of price points.
She is also very intentional with buying and usually only orders one to two pieces per size in each style, so customers know they’re investing in something special and not overly saturated.
“While trends are always changing, I truly believe in personal style and choosing pieces that feel right for you, rather than following what everyone else is wearing,” Morgan said.
“Style means something different to everyone, and that’s what makes fashion so special.
“I have a really strong focus on supporting small Australian designers too, along with a curated range of giftware, homewares and beautiful jewellery.”
Morgan May is a welcoming, no-pressure space for everyone.
Morgan said she always gives her honest opinion, and believes if someone doesn’t love it in-store, they won’t wear it, and she doesn’t want people to feel pressured.
“While the store itself is a dream come true, it’s truly the kindness of the people who’ve walked through the doors that has made these first few weeks so special,” she said.
“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has visited, and I’ve had many customers share such lovely feedback about Morgan May.
“We’re constantly bringing in new stock and discovering new brands, so I encourage people to pop in anytime for a browse and see what’s new.”
