Australia Post announced the temporary ban on sending items worth more than $150 in late August, effective immediately.
But on Tuesday the Commonwealth-owned corporation announced the suspension would be lifted no later than September 25 for business customers, through a deal with a third-party provider.
"We've been working around the clock to find a solution," Australia Post's Gary Starr said in a statement, adding that the organisation had been "caught in a fast-moving situation not of our making".
A partnership with Zonos, an authorised US Customs and Border Protection third-party provider, would allow Australia Post business customers to meet new rules and allow deliveries to resume.
However, the company is still working on a separate system that will allow everyday Australians to send higher-value parcels to the US through the post office network.
Gifts, letters and documents valued at under $US100 ($A150) are currently exempt from any tariff impacts, but parcels worth more cannot be sent to the US.
Australia Post decided to suspend parcel shipments in response to recent and significant changes by the US government to customs and import rules.
Those changes include the US suspending the "de minimis" exemption for inbound goods valued below $US800 ($A1200) and requiring the pre-payment of tariffs before items arrive.
Postal services across Europe also suspended most parcel shipments to the US including France's La Poste, Germany's Deutsche Post, Spain's Correos, Poste Italiane and the Belgian, Swedish and Danish postal service.
