Forced to close for the second time this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the park will be offering its Night Tours and Zookeeper for a Day programs through the remainder of September and the first week of October.
Kyabram Fauna Park general manager Lachlan Gordon said park staff and volunteers were very excited to welcome guests back just in time for the school holidays.
“Our new Night Tours will be a great experience for visitors to explore the park after dark and get up close to our nocturnal animals that are active in the evening,” he said.
“Numbers are limited for this exciting new experience, which will be hosted by our education co-ordinator Carolyn, so bookings are essential.
“Our popular Zookeeper for A Day program returns these school holidays for kids aged from 8 to 12 to learn what it’s like to work as a zookeeper.
“They’ll go behind the scenes with our keepers and take part in daily duties including animal enrichment and enclosure maintenance.”
The Kyabram Fauna Park will operate from 10 am to 5 pm during the school holidays.Night Tours are available on September 24 to 27, September 29 and October 1 and run from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.
Cost is $60 per adult and $30 per child.
The Zookeeper for a Day program will run on September 23, 26, 28, 30 and October 3 from 9 am to 1 pm.
Cost per child is $70 which includes morning tea and lunch.
“We can’t wait to see visitors in the park again,” Mr Gordon said.
“While our doors have been closed, our keepers have focused on caring for our animals as well as making improvements to exhibits, pathways and gardens. We’ve also been connecting with our community on social media.
“We will have COVID precautions in place for Night Tours and the Zookeeper for a Day programs as well as throughout the park for the safety of visitors, staff and volunteers.”
