Milla Connolly, 16, and Dakota Mann, 15, who were Prep students when the program launched, visited their former school last week to replicate their 2015 photo promoting the news.
The Water Only program, which promotes water consumption over sugary drinks, has expanded significantly.
It now includes nine primary schools, 56 kindergartens, nine workplaces and eight playgroups across the GVW service region.
GVW education officer Kristy Elrington, who has overseen the program since its inception, said the program wasn’t just about what students drank.
“It’s about creating a culture of healthy hydration that includes teachers, parents, visitors and even the broader community,” she said.
Merrigum Primary School continues its strong partnership with GVW, contributing to community projects including Dunyak Moira, the town’s fishing ponds created from unused water treatment plant storages.
