Organisers of the event decided to delay the staging of the event until this weekend after the flood events of October last year, but the build up to the celebration of food and music has been enormous.
Carmen Nicholson, a Kyabram Development Committee’s organising committee member, said the goal of the festival was to put “Kyabram on show’’ and every component of the event had a “local flavour’’.
The licensed festival, which is a free community event, will run from 5.30pm until 10.30pm, with a live music stage located at the eastern end of the street outside Hurley’s Hotel.
There will be 500 seats and 50 picnic tables scattered along the street, with food and drink vendors intermittently scattered from Church St to Albion St.
There is also children’s entertainment on offer at the festival.
Organisers are hopeful that Kyabram businesses in Allan St will decide to extend their opening hours to take advantage of what they believe will be a resounding response to the event.
On pages five and nine of today’s Free Press are full details of what is happening when, along with the faces behind the event, which organisers plan to make a regular component of Kyabram’s entertainment calendar.
