St Vincent De Paul’s Toy Drive is back, filling the space under about 50 Christmas trees owned by Kyabram families who can’t afford to do it by themselves.
Kyabram’s very own Santa Claus, Miles Gould from Tattslotto Toy Shop, is back on board, and he and the volunteers at Vinnies have made a Christmas call out for help.
Mr Gould aims to maximise donations by Friday, December 5, allowing time to carefully select meaningful gifts for each disadvantaged child.
“The community’s generosity over the years has made a real difference, but the need for support is still there,” he said.
Mr Gould has committed to matching any donations handed into the Tattslotto Toy Shop.
“I will match whatever money gets donated — if you donate $50, I’ll make that $100,” he said.
“That makes sure that we get enough for the kids who need it when they need it. They deserve to have something at Christmas.”
Last year, Vinnies, in partnership with Tattslotto, gave toys to 59 children, and 23 families, helping make their Christmas morning as magical as any children in Kyabram.
Vinnies Kyabram co-ordinator Nola Livsey said the charity had a list of families who needed support over the holiday season, which would then get passed to Mr Gould, who would pick out gifts specific to the profile of each child.
“What Miles says goes — he is the toy man,” Mrs Livsey said.
Help create Christmas magic for local children by donating at Tattslotto Toy Shop on Allan St before the Friday, December 5 deadline.
