Applications for Campaspe Shire Council’s Seniors Program Grants are now open.

The program aims to improve health, wellbeing and social connection among seniors, through funding of concepts that promote positive ageing and are inclusive and accessible.

Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said the grants were a great way to encourage seniors to connect socially and participate in community events.

“The program is a fantastic opportunity for not-for-profit community groups, organisations and clubs to fund a seniors-focused event or activity,” Cr Amos said.

“Funds of up to $1000 are eligible for projects, events or activities. This year, we’re asking groups to think of creative ways to engage our senior residents. This could be through new experiences or supporting seniors in developing new skills.”

Informal groups that are not registered as a not-for-profit will need an eligible organisation to make the application on their behalf, as an auspice organisation. Funds are not available to be used for operational costs, including wages or insurance.

Events hosted by aged care facilities need to be open to the broader seniors community and are not able to be held exclusively for residents.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the ideas you come up with. Submit your application to make a positive impact on our seniors community,” Mr Amos said.

Applications must be submitted using the Seniors Program Grant application form and can be handwritten or entered online at www.campaspe.vic.gov.au/grants.

Applications close on August 7.

Successful applicants are expected to be announced on September 8.
