Parents would be glad to know the green paint has not made an appearance just yet; however, characters are being formed, and students are slowly beginning to turn into the familiar residents of Far, Far Away.
Shrek Jr is the musical (and kid-friendly) counterpart of the famous 2001 film Shrek.
The story follows the unlikely duo of Shrek (Guneet Buttar) and Donkey (Maddison Reid) on their quest to rescue the long-imprisoned Princess Fiona (Lily Murray) from her tower.
From there, a whirlwind of hilarious misadventures, catchy songs and heartwarming moments unfolds.
Co-director Chloe Grant said the production was at the business end of rehearsals and the students were tidying up dance moves and fine-tuning their pitch.
She said crowds at the Plaza Theatre were in for a good time.
The Free Press attended the 70-strong cast’s dress rehearsal on Wednesday, August 20 to get a sneak peek for what was in store for the nearly sold-out crowds.
Tickets for Shrek Jr are still available for those wanting to fall right into a musical fairy tale, and can be purchased online at trybooking.com/events/landing/1409872
