“I first spotted this sign (pictured) over 20 years ago when Brisbane Lions, under Leigh Matthews, put Collingwood out of the premiership race,” he said.
“I can tell you, it didn’t go down too well with Collingwood supporters but it attracted a lot of attention and comment.
“The sign was outside a shop in Elmore.”
John added that it made the Black and White column of the Herald Sun at that time.

The maximum temperature rose to 22.5C°, the warmest day recorded since May 1 when it reached 27.3C°.
Over the weekend, Kyabram had 14mm of rain, the first falls recorded since August 26.

The Seymour Fishing Festival will be held on Saturday, September 19 between 9am and 3pm at Goulburn Park.

Red letter day
The Riverina town of Coleambally will have a licensed post office again.
Seven months after the town’s service was downgraded to a community post office, full postal services and banking through Australia Post will resume in late October.
The service will continue to be located at Marilyn’s Pharmacy.

Setback for irrigators
Irrigators have expressed concerns about the resolution to a class action they brought against the Murray-Darling Basin Authority.
A judge has declared the MDBA does not hold a duty of care to water licence holders.
Southern Riverina Irrigators chief executive Sophie Baldwin said this set a concerning precedent but she was not clear if the ruling would be appealed.
Firewood deadline
Firewood collectors in the Murray Valley National Park got an unwanted notice last week.
They were told no firewood collection from the park would be allowed after October this year.
The national park is south of Deniliquin. The Murrumbidgee zone will also closed for firewood collection.
