Twin heifer calves were born on November 16, sired by Eddie “the sitting bull’’. Eddie is famous for sitting on his hind quarters in a dog like stance and is the first set of twins born to the farmers in 45 years of Hereford breeding.
Brightening up Rochester
Kyabram Real Estate company, Hinchcliffe and Greed, has joined the fundraising movement for Rochester and is planning to “brighten up’’ the streets of the flood-affected town with coloured lights.
In consultation with the town’s community house they are accepting donations from the Kyabram township to purchase solar-powered Christmas lights.
They are accepting donations at the Kyabram (146 Allan St) and Nathalia (24 Blake St) offices until December 16.
McCoys Bridge re-opens
McCoys Bridge is officially open again.
Trained divers carried out underwater inspections to check the bridge structure for any damage after it was subjected to fast-moving, powerful floodwaters.
Following those detailed safety inspections on the Murray Valley Hwy bridge it has been reopened to traffic, with a 20-tonne load limit in place while further monitoring is completed.
A 40km/h speed limit also applies to the bridge, reducing travel times for drivers travelling between Nathalia and Wyuna.
International disability day
Organisations throughout the world will be recognising International Day of People with a Disability on Friday, December 2.
Among those is the Kyabram District Health Service, which is staging a See Our Abilities event from 10.30am until 1.30pm on the lawns of the hospital.
There will be a craft stall, sausage sizzle, plant stall, games arena and ice-cream truck, with guest speaker Michelle Wilcox. She will speak about growing up with a disability.
There will also be an artist on site inviting contributions to a mural that will hang in the Pat Hayes Centre.
Alistair waves goodbye
The smile, the wave and ... the hair. That is how staff, and probably many customers, will remember Community Bank Kyabram’s Alistair Wall.
After six years working at the Allan St site he had his final day at the bank on Friday.
There has been plenty happening at the bank in November, with the Kyabram Community & Learning Centre partnership in facilitating a food drive for local families and flood-affected communities.
Right up until today the branch will be a drop off point for non-perishable food items.
