Seems the dog made a run for it when his master, well known to this columnist, had returned from a fishing trip.
When he opened the door of his home to reunite with his faithful pooch, he didn’t get the reception he expected.
The dog made a dash for it.
It was apparently a pitiful sight, with the master hobbling down a street after his dog and making little headway on the escapee.
But then the master spotted the policemen, who not only rescued the dog but gave him and his master a short ride home in the police car.
Varied falls
Kyabram has received 28mm of rain for August, with most of this falling over the past week, up to Monday.
Over 10mm was recorded from Tuesday of last week in bitterly cold conditions.

Community funding scheme
The Barooga Sports Club has received a $4 million grant under a jobs creation and community facilities funding scheme for southern Riverina tourism.
The money will be used to upgrade the Bullanginya Precinct and is part of $16.3 million awarded to eight clubs in the NSW Southern Basin.

New event, Timber On The Murray, is set to be staged in Tocumwal on November 1 and 2.

There has been a call to reintroduce maternity services in Benalla.
State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland has called on Rural Doctors Association of Victoria to advocate for the reopening.
The call follows a meeting in parliament with RDAV president Dr Louise Manning to discuss critical challenges facing regional maternity care.

The first stage to reopen the Southern Hemisphere’s largest wetlands project has started.
Expressions of interest to reopen the Mokoan Hub at Winton Wetlands are being received and strong community support is being sought to add weight to the proposal.
Wiggles heading to Deni

Train incident
Carriages of a Seymour line train separated from the main carriage as it was travelling to Melbourne on Monday of last week.
The incident occurred between Tallarook and Seymour and 10 passengers and one conductor were on board.
After the first two carriages separated they came to a controlled stop and no injuries were sustained.
