Foundation director Professor Yani Garcia said this year’s symposium at Wollongong offered a mix of the latest research findings, farmer perspectives, an on-farm visit and the always popular emerging scientists competition.
Some of the research results presented on day one will include artificial intelligence and heat stress and the discovery of new bugs in calves and the role of omega 3 fats in dairy cow longevity.
Farmer panel sessions will look at What is holding dairy back and what will drive it forward? and Rethinking how we graze for tomorrow’s climate.
Tasmanian dairy farmer Troy Ainslie will share his life-changing experiences with virtual fencing.
Day two will open with Dairy Australia’s Annual General Meeting at WIN Stadium, followed by the Dairy Innovation Farm Tour.
Delegates will see innovation in practice at Philip and Craig Tate’s progressive Albion Park dairy farm, with stations at their dairy, barn and hayshed.
The Dairy Research Foundation Symposium will be held in Wollongong on Wednesday and Thursday, November 26 and 27. Register before October 10 for the early bird discount (up to $125).
