From satellite tracking work, the experts have been able to determine bitterns are highly mobile at this time of year as the rice field habitat disappears with harvest.
Some will even disperse 400km to 600km to coastal wetlands.

It's that time of year again, Mother's Day is almost here!

Murrumbidgee Council’s Celebrating Seniors Festival began with the Olympic themed lunch and a movie day in Jerilderie last week.
Running until May 16, there’s more free activities coming up in Coly and Darlington Point.

• Altina Mini Zoo Adventure - Wednesday, May 15. Arrive at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. This is a short walking tour involving narrow pathways, so enclosed footwear is recommended.
• Seniors Luncheon - Wednesday, May 15 at the Darlington Point Sports Club. Starting from noon, this lunch will follow directly after the mini zoo tour.
Coleambally:
• CakeUp & Coffee - Thursday, May 16 at Coffee Nest Cafe. This cake decorating workshop begins at 10.30am, and includes a delicious coffee.
