Beating out contenders across Victoria and Tasmania, Kyabram Blue Light has clinched a major grant to fund equipment and bring a new event to town.

Kyabram Blue Light president Acting Sergeant Mitchell Bull said the $10,000 Kit Cares grant would support the group’s existing programs, fund new equipment and help launch the Kyabram Mess Run event.
Designed for the whole community, the event lives up to its name with a course featuring mud tunnels, hay bale climbs, slime and showers of coloured powder.
The profits will remain with the Blue Light committee to support future activities and programs.
Mr Bull said the community’s support through the Kit Cares voting process was recognition of the value Blue Light brought to Kyabram.
“To come out on top of all of Victoria and Tasmania just goes to show how valued these community programs are that provide the low- to no-cost engagements for young people in their own communities without the need to travel,” he said.
“Thank you to everybody in the community that did put in the effort to cast a vote, because every vote mattered.”
The mess run will take place at the Kyabram Showgrounds on Saturday, November 14 from 11am to 2pm. Bookings are open and can be made via trybooking.com/au/event/1629315.
