After two years of not being able to fundraise, the CFA was able to collect just over $7500 from the charity raffle at the Ky West Hotel, with the proceeds being split between the Tongala, Girgarre and Kyabram brigades.
Volunteer Lauren Taylor organised the entire event to celebrate and thank the volunteers at all the local CFA brigades for their services to the community.
“A massive thank you to the CFA fire brigades for everything that they do,” Ms Taylor said.
“The turnout to the event was massive and just goes to show how much they are appreciated in the community.”
The aim was to raise $6000, with each CFA brigade to receive $2000 each. Taylor said for the community to exceed the fundraising goal was “incredible and overwhelming”.
“I’d like to thank the community and all the acts that performed on the night — they were absolutely amazing,” she said.
“Thanks to all the sponsors, people who donated prizes for the raffle and the auction.
“Thanks to the Ky West Hotel for hosting the event and everyone who helped behind the scenes.”
Taylor said there were no plans just yet for similar events in the future but she liked the idea of making it an annual fundraiser.
An event similar to this was held two years ago at the Ky West Hotel to support the local firefighters who fought the fires of the Black Summer of 2019-20.
