Well, on Friday, July 25, the main prize was raising money for Kyabram P-12 College’s crucial chaplain’s program.
The program has been running under Liz Spicer’s leadership for years, providing a safe haven and support to students going through a tough time.
The quiz night, held at Parkland Golf Club, provided a chance for the school community to rally some money behind the program, and did so in incredible fashion, raising $2818 for the cause.
Mrs Spicer said she was ecstatic about the event’s success which drew people from across the region, with some even making their way across the border for the occasion.
“That’s one of the core reasons our chaplaincy program is so successful — because so many people understand how much it is worth to the young people we help and how important that is for the whole community,” Mrs Spicer said.
“And we thank everyone of them for being there and making it such a great night.”
The evening was a sell-out, bolstered by support from a dedicated volunteer committee, a group with many talents who helped make the evening unforgettable according to Mrs Spicer.
“Chris Hunter was a very entertaining quiz master — who brought with him an endless parade of some of the worst dad jokes in history — and his wife Alyson had the more serious job of keeping all the scores,” she said.
“And Sue Walley did a huge job organising and overseeing the night – with everything from the prizes to the super spread put on for the supper – and none of it would have happened without all the amazing volunteers on the committee who gave up so much time to help.”
Mrs Spicer said all the money raised would go directly to supporting the chaplaincy program at the school so it can continue its vital work with students of all ages.
