A heartfelt gift was given to Living Waters Church Kyabram during its NAIDOC Week celebratory service on Sunday, July 6.

Artist Ty Justin presented senior pastor Aaron Wallace and the congregation with his painting, The Living Water, on stage during the service.
Mr Justin said the five turtles detailed in the artwork represent the five-fold ministries of the church operating under the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit, depicted as flowing water.

“The yellow and red areas symbolise revival: people who once walked away from the church now coming home, and new people encountering Jesus for the first time,” he said.
“The border portrays diversity in the church and the unity we have through the Holy Spirit.”
Meshing Aboriginal culture with the church was a challenge, Mr Justin told the congregation, but he said he let the Spirit lead him.
Pastor Wallace, who is a Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri man, said the painting was so well done that the church was all too happy to gratefully accept the gift.
“The message behind it was quite profound and quite prophetic for us as a church,” he said.
“We are a church that have people from various cultures, and we’re all one in Christ.”

During the service, the congregation watched a video featuring Aunty Esme Bamblett, who is a pastor and Bangerang, Taungurung and Wiradjuri woman.
Damper with native spreads was served following the service, and the sanctuary was decorated with Aboriginal fabrics and tablecloths.
