Fellowship Day service
The Australian Church Women’s Fellowship Day service will be held on Monday, July 27, at 1pm. The service will be held at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, 22 Church St, Kyabram, from 1pm. Guest speaker will be St Andrew’s rector Rev Elwyn Enos. Afternoon tea will be served at the end of the service. All welcome.
Senior citizens annual meeting
Tongala Senior Citizens Club’s annual meeting is on Wednesday, August 12, at 10am. The meeting will be held at 14 Cavell St, Tongala. Inquiries to Joy Chalmers on 0418 370 058.
Community groups
Don’t Demention It
Don’t Demention It is for people and carers living with dementia. The group meets at 1pm on the last Thursday of every month. Come along, share feelings, have a chat and gain information. Light afternoon tea provided. Supported by Kyabram District Health Service, Kyabram Community and Learning Centre and Dementia Voices Alliance. St James’ Anglican Church
A service of holy communion is held every Sunday at 5.30pm at St James’ Anglican Church, corner Torney and St James Sts, Tongala. Community members are invited to join us. Family Church
Family Church members meet on Sundays at 6pm at the RSL hall, 28 Unitt St, Kyabram. Bible study is on Wednesdays from 7.30pm. All welcome.
St Matthew’s Anglican Church
Parishioners meet every Sunday and invite the community to join a service in a friendly atmosphere with morning tea at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Stanhope. Services every Sunday at 11am. Visiting clergy first and third Sunday, lay reader every other Sunday.
Prayer in the park
Come and pray together on Saturdays at Edis Park, Kyabram, from 10am to 11am. God answers prayer. Everyone is welcome. Inquiries to 0421 556 556.
Meal and mingle
Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the Kyabram community meal and mingle every Thursday at 1pm. The community meal is on at Kyabram Community and Learning Centre. No cost. Inquiries to 5852 0000.
Aussie Praying Grandparents
All over the country, some 80-plus groups of grandparents are gathering to pray a storm of protection and provision for their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all other children. Non-denominational. Afternoon tea supplied. First Tuesday of the month, at 4pm, at 24 Unitt St, Kyabram.
Volunteers needed
Girgarre Community Cottage invites you to join our wonderful team of volunteers. We are seeking volunteers from Kyabram and the surrounding area to help our local community. Drivers are needed for the community car, and gardeners are needed for three community gardens that are designed for ease of use. Kyabram Senior Citizens
Kyabram locals can join Kyabram Senior Citizens in various activities, including cards, exercises, bowls and snooker, running each week. Come along and enjoy a fun day with other senior citizens. Weekly events include Monday, cards at 1.30pm; Tuesday, exercises at 9am, bowls at 1pm; Wednesday, cards at 1.30pm, snooker at 1.30pm; Friday, bowls at 1pm.
Gospel meetings
Community members are welcome to attend a series of public meetings in the Kyabram Community and Learning Centre, Lake Rd, Kyabram, on Tuesdays from 7.45pm to 8.30pm. Inquiries to 0458 008 557.
Kyabram and District Historical Society
Are you interested in local history? Kyabram and District Historical Society members meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 10.30am at the Kyabram Club. The society manages and maintains Hazelman’s Cottage at the Kyabram Fauna Park and has a local history library in the Campaspe Shire library complex, Lake Rd, Kyabram. Al-Anon
Al-Anon is for family and friends of problem drinkers. The group meets every Tuesday from 3.30pm to 5pm at Kyabram Community and Learning Centre. Inquiries to Marj on 0458 254 031.
Men’s breakfast
A men’s breakfast is held on the first Saturday of the month, from 8am at Kyabram Uniting Church hall, corner of Unitt and Union Sts, Kyabram. Hear from a range of guest speakers. Inquiries to 5853 2038.
Messy church
Join in messy church on the first Sunday of the month from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Kyabram Uniting Church, corner of Unitt and Union Sts, Kyabram. Enjoy craft, games, celebration and food.
Probus
Probus clubs are all about friendship, fellowship and fun in retirement. Kyabram Probus Club members meet monthly to enjoy the company of like-minded fellow retirees and listen to interesting guest speakers. Other activities include trips and outings, dinners and book club. Membership is open to anyone who is retired or semi-retired and would like to make new friends, learn a new skill, or explore new interests and hobbies. Parkinson’s support
A Parkinson’s support group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10.30am at Kyabram Community and Learning Centre. A Parkinson’s exercise group is on every Friday at 10.30am at Kyabram Community and Learning Centre. Inquiries to Christine on 0428 408 208.
Yarn bombers
Kyabram Yarn Bombers members meet in the senior citizens rooms at 1pm. Meetings will be held on July 23, August 6 and 20, September 3 and 17, October 1, 15 and 29 and November 12. Trees go up on November 28 and 29.
Kyabram Town Hall
Kyabram Town Hall Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday. Entry is free or by gold coin donation. Current exhibitions — Here +There Exhibition, curated by Ellen Lee for the Campaspe Shire Art Collection; Graham Hearn’s The Paddock that Grew; John Roberts and his unique woodcraft; Splinter Contemporary Artists presents Deep Water. Contact the hall for details about children’s art classes and the Town Hall Art group that meets twice a week. The writers’ group also meets once a week. Kyabram library
Kyabram library hosts several regular events. Head along and enjoy Scrabble every Monday at 10.30am. Book chat and cuppa is on the first Tuesday of each month at 10.30am. Social craft is held every Thursday at 10.30am. A family history chat is held on the third Saturday of each month at 10am. An after-school club offering free crafts for primary school-aged children is on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 3.30pm. Children aged eight and over can head along on the first Wednesday of the month at 4.30pm and learn basic coding. An adult must accompany children under 10. BYO device or borrow one. Story and rhyme time sessions run during the month, with story time for young children on the second Tuesday of the month at 10.30am, toddler rhyme time for children aged 18 months up to three on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10.30am and baby rhyme time for babies up to 18 months on the third Tuesday of the month at 10.30am.
Family bush dance
Wyuna family bush dances are held at Wyuna Memorial Hall, Alfred Rd, Wyuna, on the second Saturday of the month (February to November) from 7.30pm. A great fun night out for families and groups. A mix of Aussie bush set dances and old-time dances. You don’t have to know how to dance, we have a dance caller that runs you through the steps. A traditional shared supper (bring a plate to share). The dances are alcohol-free events. All proceeds go to the memorial hall. Cost is $10 for singles and $20 for a family.
Grief support group for widow and widowers
A grief support group for widows and widowers is held at Stanhope Cafe each first and third Monday of the month. The group meets for coffee to chat about life and provides a safe space for widows and widowers to talk, listen and be heard. The group meetings are free to attend. Sporting groups
Breen Avenue Walking Track parkrun
Breen Avenue Walking Track parkrun is a free weekly 5km event, which takes place every Saturday at 8am on the Breen Ave walking track, Kyabram. parkrun is a community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Croquet club
