Registered Community Clean Up events will take place in Campaspe Shire from Wednesday, February 26 to Sunday, March 1.
Campaspe Shire Council Regulatory and Community Services general manager Paul McKenzie said these events were all great opportunities to show community pride by cleaning up our local parks, bushland and waterways.
“Eight million tonnes of plastic enter Earth’s oceans each year, with much of this washed in via rivers and waterways,” Mr McKenzie said.
“Litter carelessly thrown away by a small minority of people damages the health of our native flora and fauna and spoils the visual appeal of our beautiful region.”
