The members were revealed by the company yesterday, just days before nominations for those vacancies closed.
The selection committee includes Seftons managing director Robbie Sefton, KM & WM Kelly & Sons chairman and director Chris Kelly and Blink Connect founder and director Jennie Grigg.
Murray Irrigation chair Phil Snowden said these three individuals have impressive skill sets and extensive experience in agriculture across primary production, communications, industry, advisory, human resources, and governance.
The trio will assist the company in filling board roles left vacant following the resignations of Steve Fawns, Troy Mauger and Brendan Barry.
Their resignations took effect at the end of the company general meeting on April 10, at which motions moved by the trio to remove the board’s non-shareholders directors Robert Burbury and Trish Gorman were lost.
Their departures leave the board with only four members - the two independent directors, Mr Snowden and deputy chair Lachlan Marshall.
“When selecting the committee, Lachlan, Trish, Rob and I wanted to ensure the individuals had a sound understanding of the region and the issues and challenges we face,” Mr Snowden said.
“Robbie and Chris are local to the area, have an in depth understanding of local issues, extensive experience in primary production and the industry that supports it, as well as director and industry body experience.
“Jennie has worked with Murray Irrigation providing human resources support for a number of years.
“She has supported the company through significant cultural change over the last few years and will provide valuable human resources insights regarding the continuous improvement in culture and staff wellbeing”.
Director nominations are due to close at 5.00pm this Friday.
Applications are welcomed for both member and non-member directors.
Further information including the nomination form and how to submit it, is available on the company website.
Once the nomination period closes, the selection committee will review candidates against a specified selection criteria relating to the current skills the board requires, to form recommendations to the board for approval.
Mr Snowden said the company is targeting to have a fully constitutional board back in place by May 8.
“Progress in a number of areas has been put on hold over the past four months due to the general meeting process,” Mr Snowden said.
“Lachlan, Rob, Trish and I are looking forward to welcoming new members to the board and continuing to work towards the outcomes of the business’ strategic plan.”
