More than 280 Campaspe Shire residents are diagnosed with cancer each year, which means the experience of having a love one battling the insidious disease is an all too common for many families in the community.
Each year, hundreds of Cancer Council publications and brochures are distributed for affected people in the Campaspe shire, and nurses employed by the charity were able to respond to dozens of local emails answering questions about the disease.
Thanks in part to the fundraising achieved through Daffodil Day, the rate of first year cancer survival has increased by 20 per cent since 1985.
But more still needs to be done to fund research for the 90 Victorians who were diagnosed with cancer every single day.
