Eighteen young people were awarded grants to support their study at university or TAFE in 2024.
This year’s grants were made possible by donations from the Lions Club of Coleambally, Darlington Point-Coleambally Apex, Murrumbidgee Council Demonstration Farm, Susan and Joyce Chirgwin, Griffith Leagues ClubGrant, Matthew Stuckings, Dorothy and Monica Whelan, Coleambally-Argoon CWA, Akazien Hof, Coleambally Solar Farm Community Fund, Bullawah Wind Farm, Matana Foundation, Bendigo Bank and the CEF’s dollar for dollar matching program.
Various local fundraising activities throughout the year also supported the grants.
Among the recipients is Andrew White, who is taking up a CICL Grant Latta Bonded Scholarship and the Frank and Dan Whelan Scholarship.
Emily Hibbert is in the second year of this CICL scholarship.
Both are studying agriculture, at Melbourne University and Charles Sturt University in Wagga respectively.
Other recipients are studying a variety of courses including occupational therapy, paramedicine, diesel mechanics, primary and secondary teaching, finance and economics, psychological science and naturopathy ... to name a few.
“Thank you to our sponsors for their generosity and support and we wish our recipients the very best for a wonderful year,” the local CEF branch said.
